3 Days Workshop on ‘Media and Information Literacy’ was organised by College Library, Kheri Gurna from 17th -19th May, 2022.
On the first day, a poetic competition titled ‘ Shiv- Pash Kaav Goshti’ was organised . Dr. Meenakshi Negi, Head Department of Commerce and Management inaugurated this session. Students participated with great enthusiasm in this competition.
On the second day, a webinar on National Digital Library of India was organised. Prof. (Dr.) Rupak Chakravarty, DLIS , Panjab University, Chandigarh was the resource person. Prof. Chakravarty highlighted the key points on NDL and he explained various search strategies to the students. Along with the students, faculty from District Library, Mohali and Central State Library, Chandigarh and others professional also joined the webinar.
On the third day , an expert talk on “Role of Academic Libraries in promoting MIL” was organized.
Dr. Gian Singh, Deputy Librarian, Punjabi University Patiala was the Guest of Honour. Prof. (Dr.) Jagtar Singh, Former Dean, Faculty of Education and Information Science, Punjabi University, Patiala was the chief guest and the resource person for the session. Prof. Singh highlighted the role of academic libraries and how academic libraries can bridge the gap in MIL.
Prof ( Dr.) Rama Arora, Principal appreciated the efforts done by the Workshop Coordinator, Dr. Shivani Kaushal and insisted her to organise such events on Information Literacy in future as well.
